Before NOCK can create or synchronize issues in Linear, you need to give it a way to authenticate with your Linear workspace. You do this by generating a personal API key inside Linear and pasting it into NOCK’s integration settings. The whole process takes less than five minutes and does not require any changes to your Linear workspace configuration.

What permissions your API key needs

NOCK uses your API key to perform two operations in Linear:
OperationWhy NOCK needs it
Issue — createCreates a new Linear issue whenever a ticket is submitted in NOCK
Issue — readReads issue status so changes sync back to NOCK
A personal API key inherits the permissions of the Linear account that generated it. Make sure the account you use has at least Member access to the teams where you want issues created.
NOCK does not need — and does not request — write access to any part of your Linear workspace beyond issues. It will not modify your teams, projects, cycles, or workspace settings.

Step-by-step: connect Linear to NOCK

1

Open Linear API settings

In Linear, click your workspace name in the top-left corner, then navigate to Settings → API. You can also go directly to linear.app/settings/api.
2

Create a personal API key

Under Personal API keys, click Create key. Give the key a recognisable label — for example, NOCK integration — so you can identify it later. Click Create to generate the key.
Linear shows the full API key only once, immediately after creation. Copy it to your clipboard before closing the dialog — you cannot retrieve it again.
3

Open NOCK integration settings

In NOCK, go to Settings → Integrations → Linear. You will see a field labelled Linear API key.
4

Paste your API key

Paste the key you copied from Linear into the Linear API key field, then click Save.
5

Verify the connection

After saving, NOCK attempts to authenticate with Linear using the key you provided. If the connection succeeds, a green Connected badge appears next to your Linear workspace name.If you see an error instead, check the Troubleshooting page for common causes.

Security and credential storage

NOCK stores your Linear credentials encrypted and uses them only to create or synchronize issues in your selected workspace.
If you ever rotate or revoke the API key in Linear, return to Settings → Integrations → Linear in NOCK and update the key immediately to avoid a sync interruption.

Next steps

Once your connection is verified, configure which Linear team and project should receive new issues.

Choose a Team & Project

Select the Linear team and project that new NOCK tickets will be sent to.
